What is an Intensive at Igniting Purpose?

What Is an Intensive?

As an experienced therapist, I’ve found that 3-day therapy intensives are one of the most powerful and efficient ways for individuals, couples, and even groups to experience real, lasting change.

Unlike weekly therapy, which can be limited by time and disrupted by life’s busyness, an intensive offers uninterrupted, focused time to deeply explore what’s holding you back. These experiences are designed to unearth limiting beliefs, negative thinking patterns, and long-standing emotional wounds that often lie beneath the surface of anxiety, relationship issues, spiritual disconnection, and addiction.

Why Choose an Intensive?

In a supportive and Christ-centered environment, intensives use evidence-based experiential therapy to address:

  • Trauma and emotional pain
  • Addictive behaviors and old coping strategies
  • Disconnected relationships—with yourself, others, and God
  • Deep-seated personal narratives that shape your identity

We use powerful tools such as role-play, psychodrama, equine therapy, art and music therapy, and Brainspotting to help individuals break through emotional and spiritual barriers. Time after time, I’ve witnessed stories of transformation that seemed impossible turned around in just three days through God’s presence, intentional therapeutic process, and a willingness to step into healing.

What Happens in an Intensive?

A purpose-focused therapy intensive is structured and intentional. Here’s the journey we walk through together:

  1. Take Inventory: Where Are You Now?
We begin by compassionately exploring your current emotional, spiritual, and relational state.
Why: You can’t move forward if you don’t know where you’re starting from.
  2. Clarify What You Think You Want
You identify surface-level desires—more peace, healthier relationships, clarity.
Why: These desires often point to deeper unmet needs.
  3. Uncover What You Want
Together, we dig beneath the surface to discover your true longings—purpose, connection, freedom.
Why: True transformation happens when deeper needs are met, not just symptoms addressed.
  4. Explore Your Theology
We examine how your view of God affects your identity, worth, and decisions.
Why: Your theology shapes how you see yourself and the world around you.
  5. Identify Your Narrative
We name the story you’ve been living in—the roles you’ve taken, the beliefs you’ve held.
Why: Your story frames your identity. If it’s distorted, it limits your life.
  6. Trace the Source
We look at where these beliefs came from—family, church, trauma, culture.
Why: Understanding the roots allows you to release what no longer serves you.
  7. Understand the Need It Met
We honor the ways your past stories helped you survive.
Why: This creates self-compassion and reduces shame around past behaviors.
  8. Try On a New Story
You begin practicing a new narrative based on truth, freedom, and God-given identity.
Why: Healing requires stepping into who you’re becoming, not just who you’ve been.
  9. Reinforce the New Narrative
We anchor your new identity through spiritual practices, community, and ongoing support.
Why: Transformation is sustained through reinforcement, not just insight.

Experiential, Christ-Centered Therapy

Our intensives integrate evidence-based and experiential methods like:

  • Psychodrama and role play
  • Equine therapy
  • Brainspotting
  • Art and music therapy
All grounded in biblical truth and the healing presence of God.

What Happens During Your Intensive Experience

When you arrive at our peaceful event center in Brush Creek, TN, we welcome you with the warmth of healing hospitality. From the very beginning, our goal is to create a space where you feel safe, seen, and supported.

We begin by identifying your personal goals, written on an oversized sticky note that stays visible throughout the three days to ensure every intention is addressed before you leave. You’ll be invited to imagine what transformation would look like: How do you want to feel? What do you want to leave behind? Who do you hope to become?

From there, we build safety and connection through therapeutic warm-ups like therapy cards, trauma eggs, timelines, role-play, and empty chair work. These evidence-based methods help gently uncover the limiting stories and coping strategies you’ve carried.

Together, we begin the work of healing—addressing painful moments, rewriting false narratives, and restoring your sense of identity. Through experiential exercises and teaching, you’ll learn how to live more fully as a Christian, integrating body, soul, and mind under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Many discover that spiritual beliefs shape far more than they realized. By exploring your theology and seeing yourself through God’s eyes, you’ll gain clarity on your choices, your worth, and your future.

This is sacred, transformational work—and it begins the moment you say yes to healing.

The Result?

In just three days, I’ve seen people break free from years of emotional stuckness, rebuild relationships, and reclaim a sense of divine purpose. With professional guidance, a Christ-centered foundation, and your willingness to show up honestly, transformation is not only possible—it’s powerful and lasting.

Real Transformation Is Possible

Time and again, we’ve seen what feels impossible become reality. With the right support, willingness, and the work of the Holy Spirit, lasting change can begin in just three days.
